    About Me

My name is Mary Niles, and I have always been drawn to natural healing practices as a way of helping the body achieve balance in mind, body, and spirit. Having experienced many of these therapies myself and noting their benefits, I embarked on a holistic path.

I have practiced a wide range of therapies, including reflexology treatments, massage, aromatherapy, and nutritional advice. Additionally, I am a certified baby reflexology instructor, RLD reflexology specialist, and Tai Chi instructor.

In 2007, I became a Tai Chi Instructor with Master Ding Academy of Tai Chi Chuan and established Tai Chi classes in Bandon Town Hall. I have also conducted classes in adult education and collaborated with various elderly groups.

My passion for learning has led me to complete advanced courses in reflexology for intellectual disabilities, baby and children reflexology, pregnancy and fertility reflexology, as well as advanced courses in aromatherapy for therapeutic uses.

I am a registered member of the National Register of Reflexologists Ireland and am approved by VHI, LAYA Health, and Irish Life Health.

    what is Reflexology

Your feet are a crucial part of your body, playing a vital role in helping you stand, walk, run, and jump. They support your entire body weight, and when you engage in natural healing practices like rubbing your feet, you're not just focusing on them; you're also promoting the health of other body parts such as your eyes, ears, sinuses, heart, lungs, stomach, kidneys, intestines, and bones.

On the top and bottom of your feet, there are over 7,000 reflex points. When you rub or stimulate these reflex points, energy is sent to specific nerves, glands, organs, or muscles, delivering a special message. This practice is known as reflexology.

Reflexology is an ancient form of healing that dates back to the Egyptians, who discovered that each part of the foot corresponds to different areas of the body. By applying pressure to sore spots on a person's feet (and also hands, face, ears, and the entire body!), they were able to enhance the individual’s health. Regular reflexology treatments, whether once a week or several times a day, have been found to decrease health problems, promote relaxation, improve sleep, alleviate pain, and enhance digestion. Additionally, incorporating activities like Tai Chi classes can further support overall well-being.

    Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

RLD Reflexology is a groundbreaking and multi-award winning technique developed by Sally Kay. It focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet, making it one of the effective natural healing practices available. This simple yet effective method of reflexology helps in the management of lymphoedema and has also shown success in treating conditions such as arthritis, asthma, eczema, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, ME, sinus issues, migraine headaches, aches and pains, premenstrual tension, and long COVID symptoms.

As we approach the winter months, this treatment serves as a great way to boost the immune system. It can be enjoyed as a standalone treatment or provides additional benefits when combined with regular reflexology treatments or even Tai Chi classes.

    Reflexology

Reflexology treatments can help to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium. This gentle, non-invasive therapy encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace, aligning perfectly with various natural healing practices. Reflexology has been successful in relieving many acute and chronic conditions, such as insomnia, menstrual problems, migraine, sinusitis, vertigo, asthma, sciatica, and many others. Additionally, its benefits extend to improving circulation, purifying the lymphatic system, enhancing the functioning of the intestines, liver, and kidneys, and promoting a general detoxification that brings increased awareness accompanied by mental and cellular relaxation. For those interested in holistic wellness, combining reflexology with Tai Chi classes can further enhance overall health and well-being.

    Reflexology during pregnancy

    Reflexology during pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very special time in a person’s life. While it is a natural process and part of the cycle of life, it can put strain not only physically but also emotionally on the body. Many expectant mothers turn to natural healing practices, including reflexology treatments, to help ease discomfort during this period.

The main aims of these reflexology treatments are:

    - To relax the body and reduce stress.

    - To bring the body back to a state of homeostasis balance.

    - To clear energy blockers, allowing all systems to function normally.

    - To balance the endocrine system, which is especially important during pregnancy. Additionally, incorporating Tai Chi classes can further enhance relaxation and promote overall well-being.

    Reflexology during pregnancy

Reflexology treatments work by bringing balance to the body, promoting relaxation, and reducing stress, allowing all systems to function more efficiently and increasing the potential for achieving a pregnancy.

It is important to realize that reflexology is not a magic cure; it requires a commitment to lifestyle changes, which may include overhauling your diet, consulting with various other health care professionals, engaging in regular exercise, and giving up smoking and alcohol, while also learning effective stress management techniques.

Benefits of reflexology for sub-fertility include:

    - Provides support at a challenging time.

    - Promotes general well-being.

    - Improves blood flow to the pelvic area.

    - Improves sleep and increases energy.

    - Regulates hormones and the menstrual cycle.

    - Reduces pain associated with endometriosis.

    - May help regulate the menstrual cycle in those with PCOS.

    - Can improve sperm count.

    - Increases success rates in IVF.

    - Reduces levels of stress.

Reflexology supports the healthy development and maintenance of all bodily systems, with a special emphasis on reproductive reflexes when addressing fertility issues. A comprehensive consultation is conducted at the first treatment and is updated at each subsequent visit.

Additionally, integrating other natural healing practices, such as Tai Chi classes, can further enhance your overall well-being. The effects of reflexology are cumulative, so commitment to both treatments and lifestyle changes is essential for achieving the best possible outcome.

Did you know? The first sense to develop in a human foetus is touch. At 8 weeks, a foetus responds to touch of the lips and cheeks, with other parts responding by 14 weeks. Infants use touch to learn about the world around them and to bond with others—positive touch assists an infant’s healthy development. Incorporating natural healing practices, such as baby reflexology, can enhance these early experiences.

Benefits of baby reflexology treatments in one-to-one sessions include:

    - Improved weight gain (especially beneficial for premature babies).

    - Promotes balance & harmony.

    - Acts as a pain reliever and sedative by releasing endorphins into the bloodstream.

    - Calming, soothing, and reassuring.

    - Helps to boost their immune system.

    - Relief from digestive ailments such as colic, reflux & constipation.

    - Can help to regulate sleep patterns.

Additionally, parents might find that integrating Tai Chi classes into their routine complements the soothing effects of reflexology, further supporting their infant's well-being.
